The heater core (interior heat exchanger) transfers heat from hot engine coolant into the cabin air system. It allows the vehicle heater to produce warm air during cold weather and helps defog the windshield for safe visibility. A leaking or clogged heater core may cause coolant smell inside cabin, foggy windows, or low heating performance.
